Welcome to the home of Bridgend Chess Club online. Here you will find the latest club news, league results and further information on how to join the original chess club based in Bridgend and Porthcawl.
We meet every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m in Nolton Hall (the address can be found on our Where? page). The club has ample free parking, is easy to get to from Bridgend and the surrounding areas and is accessible for those with mobility issues.
Membership is open to everyone of all ages and abilities (although we recommended young children be accompanied by an adult). Whether you’re looking to play competitive chess, brush up your skills or just meet some like minded friends we offer a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to learn, play and enjoy.
Have a look around our site to find out more about the team and our members. If you would like more information take a look at the Contacts page for all the ways you can get in touch.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi, my son has just turned 8 and has been playing chess for about a year with his dad and sister and is absolutely addicted and has asked if there is a club he can join. Ideally I’d like it to be where he can play against kids of all ages so wondered if your club has kids or whether you could suggest somewhere near Bridgend that does.

Do you meet every Monday or every Monday during certain months of the year? How much is each evening, how much is the Annual Subscription? Plus how much is the WCU annual fee?
LikeLike
Hi Roger, we meet every Monday all year around except Bank Holidays. There is no nightly fee, just an annual membership fee which will be £10 for your first season. That covers all the necessary fees for the WCU
